Recovering a Sense of Safety: Embodied Companion to The Artist’s Way Part 1
Welcome to Episode 1 of a 12 part devotional, embodied companion to The Artist’s Way.
This series is an invitation to walk chapter by chapter through one of the most enduring creative and spiritual texts of our time as a lived, embodied experience.
In this opening episode, we begin where the book begins: with safety.
I share a bit about how The Artist’s Way entered my life at 19 through an acting teacher, and how it became a gateway into creativity, spirituality, and returning to myself again and again across the years.
We explore what it means to recover a sense of safety in the body, in creativity, and in desire. We reflect on how external rejection can become internal self stopping, and how gentleness is often the true beginning of creative life.
You are also guided through a short breathwork and visualization designed to help safety settle in the body, offering a foundation for the chapters to come.
In this episode, you will experience:
- An orientation to The Artist’s Way as a living, relational text
- A reflection on recovering a sense of safety as the foundation of creativity
- A gentle breathwork and visualization to support nervous system settling
- A reminder that recovering ourselves is an ongoing practice
You are invited to listen to this series sequentially, whether daily or weekly, and to consider choosing an inspiration partner or creative companion to walk through the episodes with you. Not to fix or analyze anything, but simply to witness and reflect together.
If this work is resonating and you feel drawn to go deeper, I offer a private 12 session breathwork journey inspired by the chapters of The Artist’s Way. This is a space to be fully held as you embody the themes and recover yourself with support: https://www.sageandblushwellness.com/purchase/p/12-transformational-breathwork-reiki-the-artists-way-series
I am also hosting The Authentic Creative: Breathwork and Reiki by the Sea, a women’s retreat taking place May 3-6 on the Oregon Coast. There are 3 spots remaining. If you feel curious, you are welcome to email me and we can explore together whether it is the right fit.
Thank you for beginning. I’m so glad you’re here.
